Diving Into PUBG Update 37.2: Miramar, G-DRAGON, Deathbox Tricks

PUBG Update 37.2 brings a G-DRAGON collaboration and Miramar revamp, enhancing tactical gameplay and loot strategies.

I'll be honest—when Update 37.2 first dropped, I thought it was just another routine patch. But after a few matches, I was straight-up hooked. Miramar got a serious glow-up, the PUBG x G-DRAGON collaboration turned starting islands into mini concerts, and the new deathbox mechanics made me feel like a sneaky mastermind. This update is the whole nine yards for both tactical players and loot goblins like me.

Here's the quick rundown:

Change Where My take
G-DRAGON Emote Stage Starting islands on Erangel, Miramar, Vikendi, Taego, Deston, Rondo Concert flex before the plane
Deathbox dragging Every mode Bait for loot goblins
Pull Door Every mode Open doors inward for sneaky escapes
Destructible Gas Tanks Miramar, Taego Pop smoke without a grenade

The G-DRAGON Vibe Everywhere

Let's start with the flashiest part. The G-DRAGON collaboration world was live until the next update, and it did not miss. On some starting islands of Erangel, Miramar, Vikendi, Taego, Deston, and Rondo, there is a G-DRAGON Emote Stage. You can perform G-DRAGON emotes on it, and the corresponding album image pops up on screen. Only G-DRAGON emotes work there, so don't bother trying your old dance moves. I hit that stage before boarding the plane, and my whole squad was vibing. The moment you board the plane, the stage disappears, so get your clip while you can.

Miramar's Truck Stop is decorated with the collab theme. You can take the stage and perform to G-DRAGON's music. There are also G-DRAGON Gas Stations and Fan Rooms scattered around Miramar, packed with decorations like the G-DRAGON Turntable. On other maps, you'll spot themed Care Packages, Blue Chip Towers, and planes. It's a full-blown crossover, and it makes the usual battle royale chaos feel fresh.

Miramar's Minas Generales Revamp

Miramar itself got more than a paint job. The overall layout has been revamped with new structures and looting spots. Some buildings were replaced or repositioned, and the surrounding landscape is easier to navigate. The devs removed certain structures and simplified the terrain so gunfights are easier to read. They also adjusted terrain and added cover to balance high-ground versus low-ground fights.

If you've ever fought in Minas Generales, you know the rocky high ground used to be a nightmare. You'd get beamed from a ridge and feel absolutely helpless. Now, with additional cover and repositioned buildings, it feels like a fair fight. The dev note says they wanted smoother, more enjoyable gameplay, and honestly, they delivered. Vending Machines and Destructible Pots have also been added, and fixed Inflatable Boat spawns are now in Miramar. The total boat spawn quantity is the same, but at least you know where to look.

Deathbox Magic and Door Pulls

This is where things get spicy. You can now reposition deathboxes using the Secondary Interaction key. That means you can drag a deathbox behind cover and loot safely instead of standing in the open like a bot. But there's a catch: while carrying a deathbox, item use and most other interactions are restricted. If you get knocked, fall, or enter a vehicle, you'll drop the box automatically. Also, bullets that hit the deathbox you're carrying will penetrate and damage you. So please don't use it as a riot shield.

The big brain play is using deathboxes to lure unsuspecting loot goblins. I set one up in a doorway, pulled the door inward, and waited. A thirsty squad rolled in for the loot, and my team turned them into crates. The dev comment says it all: now you can use deathboxes to lure unsuspecting loot goblins to their demise. That's exactly what I did.

You can also pull doors open or closed with the Secondary Interaction key. An interaction UI appears when a door can be pulled. The old 'Open Door' feature has been renamed to 'Push Door.' This gives you more tactical options, like opening a door inward to escape or bait enemies even when an obstacle blocks the path. It's a small change, but it opens up some sneaky plays.

Destructible Gas Tanks and C4 Changes

Destructible Gas Tanks have been added to Miramar and Taego. When destroyed, they create a smoke cloud that lasts for a certain duration. You can destroy them with gunfire or even by hitting them with a vehicle. They apply to all modes except Survivors Left Behind and Hungers Left Behind. I love this because it gives you more cover options beyond smoke grenades and the M79. If you're caught in the open, pop a gas tank and disappear into the smoke.

C4 also got a much-needed balance pass. The damage over distance has been reduced, and the beeping sound is now clearer and can be heard from about 25% farther away. The volume in certain ranges has been boosted, making the beep easier to hear. Crucially, when the timer is active, C4 can now be disabled by explosive damage. So if someone tries the old C4-on-a-bike rush, you can blow it up before it blows you up. That's a huge win for defenders.

Custom Match, UGC Alpha, and Hungers

Custom Match enjoyers got some treats too. Two new Erangel maps have been added: Shooting Range and Boatyard. Map selection probabilities were readjusted to match. The Destructible Terrain feature has been added to Rondo and Taego maps. Paramo and Karakin maps have also been added, and Blue Zone speed is slightly increased. The report popup now automatically selects the player who killed you, which is a nice quality-of-life fix. Minimap zoom has been adjusted, background music was added, and the scoreboard order at match start was improved.

UGC Alpha is available until Update 38.1, and it includes fun modes created by PUBG Partners and esports players. Don't sleep on it if you want to try something different before the service wraps up.

Hungers have arrived in Miramar. Filling the hunger gauge and reaching Fullness now grants various buffs. Equipping gear items given as Stage Rewards reduces incoming damage. And word has it that a secret place lies underground. I haven't found the secret spot yet, but I'm keeping my eyes peeled. The Survivors Left Behind and Hungers Left Behind modes are available on PC and Console, and the Destructible Terrain setting has been added for Team Deathmatch and Intense Battle Royale.

Quality of Life and Hideout Changes

The Hideout Weapons page got a layout revamp, the maximum level display for Progressive weapon skins changed, and a filter feature was added. Tags like [PROGRESSIVE], [CHROMA], and [BATTLESTAT] were removed from item names. You can now salvage up to 24 weapon skins at once, up from 12. Legendary and Ultimate tier items will no longer be included when using 'Select in Order' or 'Select Duplicates' features. A new Survivor Pass is ready, and new item sets have been added to the Hunter's Chest and Archivist's Chest. PGC 2024 items are in the mix, and event banners will be marked as Complete once all rewards are claimed.

That's a lot to unpack, but the long and short of it is this: Update 37.2 made PUBG feel fresh again. Whether you're performing G-DRAGON emotes on a starting island, dragging a deathbox into a doorway, or popping a gas tank for smoke cover, there's plenty of new ways to outplay your enemies. I'm already looking forward to the next drop, but for now, I'll see you in Miramar—just stay away from my deathbox bait.
